Bassoon Lessons

Below you will find useful information about my Bassoon studio.

About Me

I have many passions in life: playing bassoon, flute, & piano; teaching music theory; knitting; reading; & cats! I’ve been playing bassoon for almost seven years & it has been refreshing to learn an instrument while already having a deep knowledge of theory, history, and pedagogy. It means that I’ve been able to really dig into the practice of bassoon playing & reed making. My personal goal as a bassoonist is to perform music that is written by historically suppressed composers. Through performance, I hope to address issues of inclusion & minority representation with themes that correlate to concepts of equality, wealth, resilience, identity, & opportunity. My last name is pronounced “suh-cool-luh.”

Lesson Policy

If the student contacts me 24 hours or more prior to their lesson, the absence will be excused. Due to my schedule, make-up lesson times may be difficult to find, but I will definitely try to make up the lesson. If the student fails to give a day’s notice (24 hrs. prior to the start time of the lesson), the lesson will be forfeited and payment will still be expected. Excused absences in which the attendance and payment policies may change are family or medical emergencies, but others may be determined on a case-by-case basis. Please both text 860-796-9812 and e-mail katesekula@gmail.com to cancel a lesson.
