Kate Sekula is the author of Music Theory: An Open Education Resource, a YouTube resource for learning music theory designed for music majors and novices. She is a musician of many talents, but her primary passion is bassoon. Kate is based in Central Oklahoma and is associate professor of music theory at The Wanda L. Bass School of Music at Oklahoma City University and principal bassoonist with the Oklahoma Chamber Symphony. Her goal is to perform music by historically suppressed composers and address issues of inclusion and minority representation with themes that correlate to concepts of equality, wealth, identify, and opportunity.
